Easy Recipe for Homemade Salsa, Using Only 4 Ingredients!
By Miranda Fox
So Simple and yet So Good
Salsa can be one of the quickest things to make if you want to
snack along with chips or enjoy as an appetizer to a good Mexican meal. This recipe, came by chance one day when I just mixed these simple ingredients together, now I've been making it for several years and still love it's taste, and I daresay...much better than some store bought. It
requires minimal steps, minimal ingredients, and very little time. So now that I have you hooked, let's not keep you waiting.
All Fresh Ingredients
Let's Get Started!
So here they are, the vegetables that will bring it all together:
- 3-4 Roma Tomatoes
- 4-5 Large Jalapenos (you can substitute for 1 bell pepper if you don't like spicy or mix the jalapenos with serrano peppers if you like it flaming hot)
- 1 Small Onion (red or white)
- 1-2 Limes
Prep
-Slice the tomatoes into 4 pieces each.
-Slice the jalapenos lengthwise and then cut into medium pieces, you can remove the seeds
-Chop the onion into inch size pieces
-Squeeze the juice from the limes and set aside
Preparation
In a medium saucepan add the onions and jalapenos, add about 1 cup of water or enough to soak the ingredients, you don't want too much water- it'll make the salsa too runny, let them simmer for 10-15 minutes.
Pour the contents of the saucepan into a blender, you should still have a tiny bit of water left over, if you have too much drain some out. Blend the onions and jalapenos until it turns into a green-ish liquid and is somewhat chunky and thick but still liquid. Add the tomato pieces in and begin blending again until you notice all the big chunks disappear. You should now notice the salsa take its thick soupy form because of all the water in the tomatoes.
Now pour the contents of the blender into the saucepan again for 5 minutes in medium heat so that all those vegetables can simmer together one last time and bring in together all their great flavors.
Remove the saucepan from the heat and pour into a medium size bowl, you can now add the lime juice. I like to really taste the tangy flavor of the lime in mine so I freely squeeze the lime juice into it, but you can taste test and see how much is good for you.
You might want to add some salt to taste, guess that would make it a 5 ingredient recipe...you'll forgive me once you taste it.
Let it stand a few minutes, you can enjoy it while it's warm or at room temperature.
Buen Provecho! Enjoy!
Now just take out your favorite bag of Totopos (that's Mexican for Tortilla Chips) and enjoy!

Going to bookmark this recipe and give it a try sometime. We purchase Pace in a large container at Costco and enjoy using salsa often. Your recipe sounds good. Thanks!
